The concept of Overworked is being a student who is very sleep-deprived due to the amount of homework they have to complete every night. You play as the student, and the goal of the game is to find all the pieces of homework so that you can go to bed. In my high school and some middle school years, the schools I had gone to had always been super demanding and it wasn't uncommon for me to be up until 1AM doing homework.
There were several things I had with during development, the main things being camera movement and having a good "pick up" mechanic. I had only worked with 2D prior to this so camera movement was much different and not first-person, so I had only some ideas about where to start. Additionally, since I wanted the player to be able to pick things up in first-person, I had to find a way to keep track of what the player was directly looking at. I ended up using raycasting for the pick-up mechanic as well as for jumping.
If I had more time, I'd probably try to flesh out the world within the game more by adding a new mechanic. I'd also be able to do a bit more decorating with the environment and maybe expand instead of just sticking to the one room. There could be different levels for the player to go through within different rooms of the house or a completely different location.
